Job Summary

We are expanding our US-based payroll team and seeking an experienced payroll professional to collaborate with our global HR and Finance teams. Location - Reston, Virginia. Please note, this is a hybrid role and requires working onsite at least two days per week.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility of the payroll processing for the US and Canada.
  • Work with the wider Finance and HR team to ensure all payroll inputs are gathered in a timely manner and processed appropriately.
  • Assist with implementation of Workday Payroll.
  • Knowledge of payroll taxes including federal, state, local and paid family leave.
  • Review and resolve all payroll tax communications, including liaising with tax agencies with regards to penalties, waivers and tax clearances
  • Perform routine payroll tax profile audits on all existing state filings.
  • Work with federal, state and local agencies to set up new accounts as needed.
  • Assist with any audits relating to payroll by providing records and documentation, including 401k.
  • Prep and process workers comp audits in the US.
  • Prep and process quarterly Canada workers comp, and employer health tax.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 5+ years of working in a similar role in the US with multi state/multi location payroll (800-1000+ employees).
  • Experience with payroll tax enquires and setting up new accounts with local agencies.
  • Proficient in Excel, outlook and other Microsoft softwares.
  • Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control and payroll taxes.
  • Understanding of state workers compensation and disability laws.
  • Subject matter expert in both payroll and payroll taxes.
  • Well organised and attention to detail.
  • Analytical and good at problem solving.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to be self-motivated and diligent in own work.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, HR or related field is required. Certifications in CPP, PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP is preferred.
