The data team is looking to add to their current talent a self-motivated, highly-experienced Database Administrator. Darktrace has a several database platforms supported by teams of talented developers and systems administrators, with the business continuing to expand at a rapid pace, there is a need to bring in some specialist skills to help support and develop database platforms for the future. As a DBA in Darktrace regular tasks include, project management, development of best practices and repeatable procedures for deploying databases, day-to-day operational activities including break/fix, capacity management, backup and recovery, database replication setup/management and ongoing database change reviews. The DBA joining Darktrace will be working with various other teams who currently administer the various databases in the company, communication and building working relationships with other teams is an essential skill.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all database platforms in the business, including MySQL and SQL server as the key systems
  • Working in partnership with other teams to mentor the best practices for database configuration
  • Reviewing the performance of queries and recommend changes
  • Good understanding of MySQL internal architecture, demonstrating experience with MySQL database design, implementation, performance tuning, and capacity planning
  • Experience in database software management (patch and version control)
  • Project management and stakeholder interaction
  • Performance tuning queries and recommending changes to database design
  • Testing failover of systems to support a highly available model for critical systems
  • Software installation
  • Manging permissions and user authentications
  • Database Backup and Recovery
  • Database Tuning

Candidate Requriements:

  • Experience working with MySQL and SQL Server technologies.
  • Experience working with HA solution architecture
  • Good team player, this role requires constant interactions with other teams to support systems they have built and currently maintain
  • Strong analytical, communication and troubleshooting skills
  • Pro-active, dedicated, committed and responsible
