You will join a new database administration team that will oversee an array of databases used by our product and internal development teams. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the stability and availability of these services and working alongside the development teams to optimise their database usage.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing and maintaining MySQL/PostgreSQL database servers, replicas and clusters in mission critical environments on Linux servers and in cloud environments.
  • Implementing and maintaining database backup/recovery and redundancy solutions.
  • Troubleshooting database efficiency issues and identifying bottlenecks.
  • Working with multiple small teams to aid their utilization of their respective database services.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience working with MySQL databases and Galera clusters, this includes database fundamentals and query optimisation.
  • Experience working with PostgreSQL databases.
  • Experience with ProxySQL and HAProxy for load balancing database connections.
  • Able to design and implement new DBA solutions based on set requirements.
  • Familiarity with database table partitioning in MySQL and/or PostgreSQL.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems and shell scripting.
  • Familiarity with cloud database service in AWS, Azure and Google Cloud.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure provisioning tools (Ansible and Terraform)
