As the Linux Engineer, you’ll be joining Darktrace’s Linux Infrastructure Team which is responsible for designing and implementing improvements to the company’s on-premises Linux server estate and cloud presence. This role requires someone who is passionate about Linux and open-source technologies and can use this passion to build stable, supportable and reliable infrastructure. This role may require the learning of new technologies and Darktrace can assist with training and courses. The candidate should have the ability to work well within a team and on their own initiative.

This is a hybrid role, with the expectations of 2 days a week in the Cambridge office.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining and providing expertise on all aspects of the Darktrace Linux Infrastructure.
  • Implementing new processes and solutions that will improve our Linux Infrastructure by appropriately utilising automation, deployment tools and scripting.
  • Assisting in deployment of hardware.
  • Assisting and collaborating with the development team by administering their Linux server and lab environments.
  • Utilising a security-first mindset and evangelise best practices.
  • Participating in cross-team and cross-department meetings with opinions, ideas, and suggestions.
  • Third line in-hours support for troubleshooting complex Linux-related issues.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience with Linux operating systems (mainly Ubuntu)
  • Experience with virtualisation and containerisation (VMware, KVM, Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience using deployment tools (Ansible)
  • Knowledge and experience of writing scripts (Bash and or Python)
  • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP)
  • Knowledge of automation (GitLab CI/CD, Terraform)
  • Experience using monitoring (Elastic Stack, Nagios, Prometheus)
  • Networking knowledge
